Amateur Radio Emergency Services - North Bay and Area |
Updated: 2022-07-25 |
A.R.E.S. is composed of licensed radio amateurs who have voluntarily registered to use their qualifications and equipment for public service communications duty when disaster strikes.
A.R.E.S. groups are called into service by a Municipal Official in response to a declared emergency. The A.R.E.S. program also provides for mutual assistance to adjacent groups or when an area, district, Provincial or National emergency is declared.
In the Magnetawan Sector, the local A.R.E.S. groups and contact information is listed in the table below:
Local A.R.E.S. Group | Emergency Coordinator |
North Bay area A.R.E.S. | Bill Gibson - VE3TGI |
Should you wish to register for A.R.E.S., please click on the User Area button in the top titlebar. You can then register for the site and fill out the form and direct it to the Emergency Coordinator of the A.R.E.S. Group in which you wish to participate. If there is no local group in your area, please select the Magnetawan Sector option and your registration will be forwarded to the District Emergency Coordinator.
The abbreviation CEC stands for Certified Emergency Coordinator - a designation granted by Radio Amateurs Canada after the amateur completes a self study course in Emergency Operations, Regulations and passes an examination set by R.A.C.
