MSR2000 repeater(s) (OPP Version) that were up for grabs in Thunder Bay in 2009..
The repeaters were all disposed of, and this page is left for historical reference.
These radios were offered at no cost, "as is, where is" for pickup in Thunder Bay.
O.P.P. will not authorize any expense - employee time or materials - to package or ship these units.
Each one weighs over 100 lbs, so bring a heavy duty lifter.
They will be supplied with channel elements with the understanding the radio is not to be placed "on the air"
even in test mode, until the frequencies have been changed to lie within the 2 metre amateur band.
It is a simple matter to change the crystal within the channel element.
Crystals are available from WestCrystal in B.C. (WestCrystal has now ceased production)
The cost of a tx/rx pair including shipping is under $40
All you need for a ham repeater is a controller, duplexer/multicoupler and the modules listed below
(this is from a post that I made on the RC-210 controller group):
The repeater was wired and tested with Stn Control, R1 audio, Duplex PL and Line Driver boards installed
(as well as the rx and tx boards). (I have indicated those modules in the list with a "*").
After alignment of the receiver remove S201 (rubber membrane type switch) on the receiver board.
It has been known to short and cause dead rx symptoms. This is especially important if you are placing the
repeater in a remote location. (Most of these stations have S201 removed)
Motorola Model C73KSB1106-CDX
100W Continuous duty PA - TLD2601A (covers 144-148 MHz)
C164 series EIA Rack Mount with DC Revert Power Supply Model 1192A
The
repeater contains these modules when removed from service:
Pos | Module | Function |
1* | TRN5235-CDX | Line Driver Module |
2* | TRN5321A | Station Control Module |
3 | - | - |
4 | - | - |

13* | TRN5069A | R1 Audio and Squelch Module |
14 | ||
15* | TRN5073A | Duplex PL Module (Vibrasponder 107.2 reeds) |
TX alarm module can be set to generate an alarm (contact closure) if the output power falls below a
pre-determined set point.
There is a directional coupler attached internally in the output of the PA and wired
through the backplane to this module.
Tone Keying and Logic module is OPP system specific - I can't think of any ham use for it.
Morse ID module has a prom containing the callsign of the OPP site where the radio was installed.
R1 Audio Squelch provides audio gating to the repeat audio path.
Squelch Gate - provides repeater keying when input signals are present.
No Manuals are supplied, but specific information is available on request to VA3OPP.
Here is how I wired up the RC-210 Controller to our club's MSR2000.
Here are the specs of the MSR 2000 simplex radios that are also up for grabs:
