Ontario QSO Party 2001

CQ Ontario QSO Party!

Just for the hang of it, three of us decided to get together and "play" for the annual running of the Ontario QSO Party. To ensure many contacts, we decided to use a callsign that had "recognition!" When the contest started we got many questions asking if we were indeed the Ontario Provincial Police station at headquarters in Orillia. We had to say NO.
Of course we then told the caller that there are two "OPP" calls, VE3OPP which is in Orillia, and VA3OPP which is located in North Bay.

The Corbeil Contest Club Barn!

OK - so the picture is not from April! The QSO Party is a low stress contest, many of the contacts result in a conversation or two, instead of a quick signal report and on to the next station.
The three amateurs that participated this year were Ken Smith - VA3SK, Mike Walker - VA3MW and Paul Caccamo - VA3PC

By the way - we did achieve an all time high score from the Nipissing District for our effort.
